Our Mission
Our mission is to provide essential volunteer services to the underserved community of El Hongo, Mexico, through monthly visits that foster compassion, cultural understanding, and meaningful learning experiences. We are dedicated to empowering future healthcare professionals by offering them opportunities to engage in impactful service, develop hands-on skills, and work alongside experienced volunteers and professionals, all while making a positive difference in the lives of those we serve.
Who are we?
The Flying Samaritans at UC Riverside is a service organization established in 2005 that focuses on delivering essential volunteer support to the underserved community of El Hongo, Mexico. During monthly visits, our team of dedicated students, physicians, physician assistants, nurses, and other compassionate volunteers provide vital assistance to meet the community’s needs. Volunteers gain firsthand experience working in a challenging environment with limited resources, offering them unique insights into serving communities and learning alongside experienced professionals. We recently reintroduced our dental services and are preparing to expand further in support of the local community.
